Jim, here is my story about my rise to full time as an Executive Director with Prepaid Legal.
I make my home in a little town of 25,000 people in Northeast Arkansas called Blytheville. I use to work for Nucor Steel in Blytheville. After 6 years with Nucor, I had topped out in the engineering department making $103,000 my last year although I invested in a lot of overtime.
December 1999, I was looking at stocks to invest into my children’s education investment fund. Found PPD (Prepaid Legal), New York Stock Exchange as a great company to investigate.
In January 2000 I decided to enroll as member of Pre Paid Legal, to see how well it works before investing in the stock. I found a person in Maryland that got me a membership and also told me about the opportunity (which did not interest me at the time, because I was very happy at Nucor).
Karen and I began using the membership to handle some legal issues we would have never paid a lawyer to handle, and it worked better than I ever expected. It saved us over $800 immediately! Not including the free Will provided that would have cost anywhere from $300 - $500 to have an estate lawyer to draw it up.
In January, I told a few friends about the membership and they all wanted more information and some wanted to sign up right then. A friend of mine recommended that I market it, because I could make a little extra money. I agreed, but I did not know that I would be able to build a significant income referring this membership at the time.
I became an associate and started making a few hundred dollars every 2 to 3 weeks from marketing the membership without spending any real time. That impressed me so I started learning about the business system that was in place to help build a group of associates and started getting others interested in making extra money in their spare time.
By March, I had built a team of associates and an income of $1500 that month.
In April, I was promoted to the Manager position and opened a group account where I signed up 100% of the employees at a local company and made over $4500 that month.
Every month my group was growing and by June I was promoted to Director position and was still making about $3000 - $4000/month. More excited people were coming on board and my income was steadily rising and so was theirs.
By October of 2000, due to our wonderful team that is being built here in this small town, Karen and I hit the top position of the company (Executive Director) and could not afford to work for my employer anymore so I fired them to do Prepaid Legal full time.
Since then, we have been focusing on getting more people on our team to freedom.
We now have 5 people on our team doing PPL full time and that number is growing every month. This business is a dream come true and Karen and I would like to thank PPL and our team for all of the great fun and success we are having in our business.

That business system in Maryland (which was started less than 2 yrs ago by Platinum II Executive Director Brian Carruthers) has allowed over 350 people to walk away from their full time jobs, and that number is climbing every week. | |
